Poste restante has been victim of the rise of email, but it’s still possible to receive mail in Sudan if you feel nostalgic for pen and paper. Letters should be sent c/o poste restante (main post office) in the town where you wish to receive it. Mail sent to Sudan takes two weeks to arrive. Mail out of Sudan can be more erratic. If you have a valuable letter or package you might wish to send it DHL, who have offices Khartoum or Chinese owned Express Mail Service (www.ems.com.cn) who operate a similar service.
